The first Rose Bowl with over 100,000 spectators was played on January 2, 1950 because New Year's Day fell on a Sunday. This game was between the Ohio State Buckeyes and University of California Golden Bears. The Ohio State Buckeyes won the matchup by a final score of 17-14.
