1964 Auburn vs. Alabama Artwork: Puzzle

By Vintage Brand™
The Iron Bowl was played November 26th, 1964 at Legion Field between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers. The Crimson Tide won the Iron Bowl by a final score of 21-14 lead by QB Joe Namath. The Iron Bowl is the name given to the Alabama–Auburn football rivalry. It is an American college football rivalry game between the Auburn University Tigers and University of Alabama Crimson Tide, both charter members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The series is considered one of the most important football rivalries in American sports. As the rivalry, which started in 1893, was played for many years at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, the name "Iron Bowl" comes from Birmingham's historic role in the steel industry. Auburn Coach Ralph "Shug" Jordan is credited with actually coining it—when asked by reporters in 1964 how he would deal with the disappointment of not taking his team to a bowl game, he responded, "We've got our bowl game. We have it every year. It's the Iron Bowl in Birmingham.
