Their record includes seven Heisman Trophy recipients, the only program with a two-time winner. The team's first game was a 20–14 victory against Ohio Wesleyan University in 1890. Initially independent until 1901, they then joined the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) in 1902 as founding members.
