1985 Villanova Wildcats Artwork: Men's Dri-Power T-shirt

In the final game of the 1985 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament, Villanova, led by coach Rollie Massimino, won their first national title in a close 66-64 victory over Georgetown, coached by John Thompson. This historic game is widely considered to be one of the biggest upsets in college basketball history, often referred to as "The Perfect Game," and the Wildcats remain the lowest-seeded team to have won the tournament. Villanova's Ed Pinckney was awarded Most Outstanding Player for his exceptional performance throughout the tournament. The 1985 Villanova team is also noteworthy as the last Division I men's national champion to represent a school that did not sponsor varsity football at the time of its title. This is because Villanova had dropped football after the 1980 season and did not reinstate the sport until the 1985 season, which was the year after their championship game. It is also notable as the last NCAA Championship game played without a shot clock. Authentic work of art ©2023 Vintage Brand.
