In a rematch of the 1946 World Series, the Cardinals won in seven games for their second championship in four years and their eighth overall. The Series was played from October 4 to 12 in Fenway Park and Busch Memorial Stadium. This would be the Cardinals second and final World Series win of the 1960s. The next year, they lost to Detroit in seven games. St. Louis wouldn't get back to the World Series until 1982 when they beat Milwaukee.
