The Chargers played in four of the first five AFL national championship games (1961, 1963, 1964, 1965) -- winning once (1963). Their final game as a San Diego-based club was played at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego at the end of the 2016 season against the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated them 37–27.
